From Highway 61 just south of where Hwy 49 go towards West Helena you will turn west on Moon Road for 2 miles then left on Moon Lake Road for 3 1/2 miles to the land on the left.

History of Moon Lake:


In 1926, the Clarksdale Elks Club built a lodge on Moon Lake.

The property changed ownership in 1936, and the Moon Lake Casino was opened there.

Tennessee Williams visited Moon Lake Casino, and referred to it in all but two of his plays. William Faulkner also visited the place, and referred to it in one of his novels as "Moon Lake Hotel."

Other writers and musicians, including John Faulkner and W.C. Handy also visited and wrote about Moon Lake.

Beginning in the early 1960's, Conway Twitty's parents, Floyd and Velma Jenkins, operated "Conway's," a popular supper club on Moon Lake. Though this club no longer exists, many locals recall many eventful evenings spent eating the famous "Conway Burger" and dancing the night away.
